Who fancies a community effort to write a book?

Where we keep all the boring tidbits about the PHPDN site, the news, and what not.

What ever happened to this?

I would like to help one way or another. :D

I believe there is an open wiki project being hosted by Maugrim the Reaper. The link should be somewhere in this thread. Basically the help that would be helpful would be adding content to the wiki at this point.

I think this link has become http://www.patternsforphp.com/wiki/Main_Page
Code: Select all
if ($toBe || $notToBe) echo 'That is the question';

That's why we locked down our wiki.

Yeah, Maugrim's PHP Patterns site has been hit really hard. I have spent hours cleaning spam out of there, and there are others that have as well.

Maybe we can look at migrating the wiki to one of my servers?

I agree, i signed up, cleaned up the main Articles, and a few hours or so later, it was basically all back again.

Which led me to not contribute to anything.

I agree as well, if this project can get a new home and a kick-start then I'm definitely up for it!

I don't have a problem setting the new book collaboration stuff on one my project sites. To get us started...

What software app do we want to run the collaboration on? I think the old site was using DocuWiki. Do we want a wiki? If so, which one?

Also, in the spirit of full disclosure (and I disclosed this in when the project began) I am still planning on putting together my own beginner PHP developer site. Just so everyone knows, the two projects (my beginner site and the book) are very similar in nature, so if this presents a problem for anyone please mention your concerns now.

I am also open to anyone else hosting this project's collaboration.

So, what's the summary of what's going on? The DOM is definitely an important part. XML is the way of the future!
